Friday September 4th
Friday I was a true tourist. We didn’t have a planned activity until 4:00, so I met up with a few others and toured the downtown area. We met in Sol and did a little shopping and then went to La Plaza Mayor. Some of the girls left and I went with Aileen to La Plaza Espana and El Templo de Debod (an Egyptian temple given to Spain).
We met the rest of the group that afternoon and went to El Museo del Prado, a famous and amazing art museum in Madrid. Again, Isabel acted as our tour guide (we even had headsets so we could hear her). I thought we were just going to walk around the museum and see the art, but she actually stopped and explained some of the pieces they have. I really enjoyed it, she knows a lot about art history and explained the historical significance, the meaning of the painting, the artist and details about the painting itself that I would have never known. We didn’t see very much of the museum but I have plenty of opportunity to go back.
After that we went out for Tapas and a few spaniards that Isabel invited joined us.
