California to Madrid

development finally begins

Today I finally got to the point that I can begin to develop code for the exoskeleton. Since I started the project I’ve been trying to migrate old code into the newly released environment.

When I finally got it working on one computer, I put it back on the computer it needs to run on and it didn’t work. We thought maybe it was conflicting with the old version so I took that off and nothing changed. Then Levi mentioned that the only difference between the systems was the physics card. Sure enough, when he pulled the physics card out everything worked normally.

But since the physics card helps with the simulation I spent another day trying to fix that problem. So this afternoon I got it all working and finally got to work on some of my own code. I made a game where the user has to hit the balls, which makes them turn green and drop to the floor.

Also here are some pictures of the lab:

The computer on the left is where the virtual reality stuff was set up to work on. However, the way the monitor and everything was set up was unerganomical and uncomfortable. Levi told me I could hook up a different monitor to it, and so now I get to use that massive and beautiful monitor you see on the right :)

Friday I worked on development of a couple other games. One is a pinball-like game and the other involves pushing a ball as far as you can in one direction.
